Dinner with friends
First 'Christmas dinner' of the season with friends.

No Snow, but insulation
We had the first ski of the year at the end of October, but since then it has been warm warm warm and it has all melted, all of it. The resort was initially due to open on the 1st of Dec, then the 6th and now the 15th. But that can only happen if some snow arrives.
Doug has been preparing the skis anyway in antici... pation...
He has also been preparing for when the cold does come by insulating round the windows upstairs. This is the only part of the roof not done and our worst heat loss now. It didn't matter so much when we hardly went upstairs, but now we are in the new bedroom it is very cold passing through on the way to and from bed. Horrible messy job.
Once this is done there will be some final (quite big bits) of neatening up the ceiling insulation so the plaster board can go on. That isn't for right now though.

Ginger cookie recipe
225g Self raising flour
1 tsp Baking soda
2 tsp Ground ginger
125g Butter
100g Light brown sugar
100g Golden syrup
Crumb together the flour, baking soda, ground ginger and cold butter
Add the sugar and golden syrup and mix gently in to a dough.
Form in to 30 balls on a baking tray
Bake at 180C for about 10 minutes or until golden brown

La Mongie apartment curtains and other things
We have been beavering away putting up pictures, making and putting up curtains, cleaning and other useful things in the La Mongie apartment so it is ready for renting in the winter.

Twenty chickens no eggs!
Disappointing when one is feeding twenty chickens and are lucky to get one egg a day.
In fairness only 6 of them are the right femaleness and age to be laying, but still...
We often get a lull at this time of year while they moult and they get back to it in January, so fingers crossed as we are most peeved to be buying eggs while also paying for all that food!
This is a young wyandotte. I think it is a cockerel so he is for the pot in a few months.
This is one of the non laying chickens. She has just finished moulting so hopefully will get back to it sometime soon.

Medlar jelly
Medlar jelly time of year. Bit more ripe this year than last, but I picked fewer, hopefully we have enough jelly to see us through!
