Visit from Aidan

Aidan came to visit, partially to get away from the horrors of brexit as he couldn't bear to be in the country to witness it. Of course it was delayed. But lovely to see him anyway.

The weather was mostly a bit crappy unfortunately but we did many useful things anyway and there was a nice window during what we did a lot of mowing. Fun! See how well we treat our visitors

We drunk lots of beer. Many different sorts. It is quite exciting the variety available now compared with even 3 years ago. Several local micro breweries have started up as well.

We walked as well

and ate

we juiced some apples we were given

made some of our own beer which we enjoy more even than the great variety of beers now available in France. We make ours less strong than most beers out there which we prefer.

More walking, this time in the snow! Of which great amounts arrived during Aidan's visit

we ate even more. This is one of our ducks. YuM!

We talked and despaired about politics

Snow shoeing too

Come again soon!

Visit from Aidan

Aidan thought he was coming for some skiing... but really he was coming to slave labour on the farm! The date of the visit was planned to coincide with BREXIT, that didn't work out but still a good time for it with lovely weather as well as good snow for skiing.
We had some nice food as well
and we did allow a little skiing
There was quite a bit of gardening - we tied up the raspberries (Doug put the frames up a little while ago)
We dug a hole in to the bank to create a flat area for a compost bin

and re-used the soil from that to fill in the divit left in the lawn when the rubble was dug off it.
 It took many barrow loads
 Compost bin looks good
The lawn will eventually look much better when the grass seed we planted grows.

The weather for the visit was brilliant. Come back soon Aidan!

Friends visiting

We have friends visiting, unfortunately they are here to ski and there isn't enough snow for the area to open. We have had a good time eating, drinking and sledging though.

Sledging means lots of walking up

 Village looks pretty

We went up the Pic du Midi as well

Eating lunch at ours (sorry Emma, caught you mid chew!)

Many yummy foods in La Mongie restaurants

Visit From Janet, Ruth, Huw and Christopher

As always when we have visitors we ate and drunk way to much and took a few walks to offset it slightly.
We had a day in La Mongie where Janet and Chris went up the cable car to the Pic du Midi and the rest of us had a nice walk at the Col du Tourmalet.

We also spent a day in Lourdes and went up the Pic du Jer and to the castle. Lovely!

Come back soon!

Pic du Jer and Lourdes Castle

I love funiculars and cables cars and the like. Finally we have been up the Pic du Jer in Lourdes.

While in Lourdes we also went to the castle (also never been there)

We discovered that the beret was invented in the Pyrenees!
