Walking down the drive with Poppy I thought I could see red fruit on a tree in the middle of the bottom field. Next time down I took the binoculars and could see that they were plums similar to the smaller tree that we recently cleared of fruit (
see here). On closer investigation we found it was a bigger tree of the same sort. The friut aren't amazing to eat as they are a bit mushy (maybe something to do with the odd weathet this summer) but they make excellent jam and crumble.
We plan on making some more jam, we have already had some crumble and sorbet. I would like to try making plum chutney as well.
We only picked the low down fruit and have 3kg
