Super cool fungus!

Jew’s ear (or jelly ear or wood ear)

Tends to grow on dead elder trees. Is edible but not exciting (apparently, we can’t fancy trying it!)

It is growing in the chicken enclosure.

  1. Bonjour à tous! We live a somewhat similar life, albeit on a small island...la vie à la petite île...and love Jews Ears! Please do try them! Dry them over the range, put into a jar and keep till needed. Rehydrate, you don’t need much, and keep the juice for gravy or soup. Delicious in omelettes or mixed through creamy pasta. Also good in soups or stews. Don’t fry directly as they hiss and spit! Let me know how it goes...love hearing your news, would love to visit your neck of the woods one day when all this isolation is over. Best wishes, Julie
