Horses feet

The horses feet are still a mess. Owen has a big hole in one hoof where he damaged the coronary band (the bit the outside of the hoof grows from) escaping through a fence and in another foot on the sole, we are not sure what happened there. Looks like it has been eaten away but thrush (which can be bacterial and/or fungal infection in horses) although it is perhaps possible that an abscess came out there.
Daisy's are very thrush infested and the frog looks a mess. The hoof is coming away a bit round one side of one foot which indicates that the infection has got up behind the hoof. We are hoping that drying out every day by coming in to the stables will help and I have been trying a variety of concoctions at the weekends to kill the infections. It is so slow to change that it is hard to tell what, if anything, is working.
Here they are enjoying the stable.

Hole in Owen's foot due to getting foot tangles in a fence while making a bid for freedom.

Bottom of Owens foot. The grey is athletes foot spray. Generally his feet look better than Daisy's apart from the holes although his heels are a bit raggidy and he clearly does have it down the side of the frog

This is Daisy's and you can see the frog (bit in the middle) is not the nice triangle that Owen has. The black is caused by infection and not good. You can see a hole in the side of her hoof as well (about 11 o'clock) caused by infection too (bacterial? fungus?)
