Healthcare

As I have mentioned before, access to healthcare in France is more complicated than in the UK. Generally you have to be contributing to the system before you will get state cover. There are many organisations that tstate cover is provided through, which you use is dictated by what you do for a living.
There is good information on it here
We have cover paid for by the UK until the start of next year, after that we hope to register for CMU- base which is the organisation that allows you to contribute to the system and get cover if you don't have it in any other way (through salaried job or being self employed or working in agriculture etc).
It is not clear whether we will be accepted. Since 2007 France has said people who are not working need to have been in France for five years before they can access the healthcare in this way, but the EU says 3 months. There is an ongoing struggle which the EU seem to be winning, but it is by no means certain at the moment. If we are rejected there is an appeals procedure, and failing that we will need to get employment, start a small business or go private...
We submitted the forms today, the nice man who helped us said we should hear start of January.
