Questions questions questions

There is so much we don't know and we want to do our best by all the animals. There is a lot of information on the internet, but a lot of the time it isn't detailed enough or there is conflicting advice

Is Daisy cold?
Daisy has had some of her hair cut short to keep her cool when she is working, although this has grown back quite a lot we are worried she is cold at night. It was very windy last night with rain and then snow. We debated for hours (several minutes) this morning about what to do. Some opinions are that if you put a rug on it just stops the fur doing its natural job, others think that it is cruel and heartless not to rug them (and probably stable them or at least give them a run in shelter). We are planning on buying a stable and some shelters, but obviously they are not here yet. In the end we decided to put a rug on her and check later to see if she is too hot under it, also if it rains whether the rain is going through it or not (it is a waterproof one)

Will the broody chicken do a better job of looking chicks than us?
One of the chickens went broody just about the time we got the eggs. A little bit in to the incubation time we gave her 3 of them because the incubator was too full - possibly we had already messed them up a bit by ramming them in regardless. She managed to hatch one of them and we have given her another one of the chicks to look after (leaving 10 under the heat lamp). We are not sure whether to give her some more or not. Perhaps she will do a better job of it than us... but then again it seems that chicks are prone to all sorts of issues like getting their bums blocked with poo which then need inspecting for and sorting out - how can the chicken do that? You would think the chicken would do better than us with an instinct to do it, but then again they are not going to actually manage to raise this many over their lifetime otherwise the world would be overrun with chickens...
We have separated her in to a rabbit hutch so the other chickens cannot harass her or the chicks, not sure if they would or not, but better safe than sorry. We were a bit worried about moving her and whether that would put her off her maternal instincts

Should the rubbarb be having a flower?
I think the answer to this one is clear - we don't want it having flowers, we want it focusing on the leaves. So we are planning on cutting it off.

Is it a problem that the cows have splatty poo
It was firmer when they arrived. But they had been eating hay then, not grass

I have emailed the people we bought from (who still own Hoppy of course) to see what they think. I am sure they will be impressed with receiving pictures of poo!
They both seem happy and are eating fine, we have given them some hay as perhaps that will stabilise things by being dryer and less rich.

How do we get rid of the mice in the pantry? - no photo, but they have eaten in to a packet of flour.
Is the snakeskin we found outside old or new???

There are thousands more (about the animals, the barn, the house, the land etc) but that is the ones we have been fretting about today - along with 'will it ever stop raining?'
