Plum Chutney Recipe

We are still working through all the plums we picked. We have had sorbet and crumble. I am also going to make jam and some plum gin (instead of sloe as we don't have any here).

500g Plums
250g Sugar (brown is nice)
1 Onion
100 ml Red Wine Vinegar
Cinnamon stick
5 Cloves
Chilli flakes (to taste)
Pepper (to taste)
A pinch of salt

De-stone the plums (was a big job with the little tiny plums I used)
Chop the onion and fry with the cloves until soft
Remove the cloves (or leave in if you don't mind picking them out as you eat)
Add the plums and other ingredients
Boil until the mixture thickens and looks ready to set
Put in to clean jam jars

Amoungst other things goes well with cheese, pork or lamb
